Recently, ChatGPT surprised users by starting a conversation on its own, leaving many people confused and even a little concerned. It felt like a glimpse into the unpredictable side of AI, where a chatbot could suddenly take the lead in chatting. But OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, has since stepped in to clarify what really happened and whether this is something we should expect from ChatGPT in the future.
Naturally, people started wondering if ChatGPT was going to evolve into an AI that initiates conversations by itself. However, OpenAI was quick to clear things up, explaining that this strange behavior was actually a bug, not a new feature. “This issue occurred when the model was trying to respond to a message that didn’t send properly and appeared blank. As a result, it either gave a generic response or relied on ChatGPT’s memory,” OpenAI explained, shedding light on what caused this odd interaction.

Many users were intrigued by the possibility of ChatGPT becoming more interactive, imagining a future where the chatbot could start conversations with you. But OpenAI’s explanation put those rumors to rest. It turns out, this wasn’t an exciting new development, but simply a technical hiccup.
At the same time, while OpenAI was clarifying the bug, Google’s Gemini AI was rolling out some new features, creating buzz of its own. Android users, in particular, have reason to be excited, as Google announced voice support for its Gemini AI, and it’s available to everyone, not just paid subscribers. Now, anyone with the Gemini app on their Android phone can try out the voice chat feature without any extra cost.
Google shared the news through a post on X, stating, "We’re starting to make Gemini Live available in English to more people using the Android app for free. Go Live to communicate with Gemini, explore a new topic, or brainstorm ideas. Keep an eye on Gemini Live with the Gemini app."
While ChatGPT’s bug may have caused some confusion, it’s clear that AI continues to evolve in exciting ways, and there’s always something new on the horizon. But for now, it seems ChatGPT won’t be starting conversations on its own—at least not intentionally!
